CLAYTON MATZEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Clayton Matzen was a long time Kansas Rush Wichita club member who passed away October 13, 2013 at the age of 17 as the result of a car wreck. Soccer was his passion from very early on and he garnered great joy from his team and teammate’s accomplishments. Clayton was always supportive and smiling. He epitomized the brotherhood of the sport and was an excellent representative of our club.
Kansas Rush Wichita is proud to announce the Clayton Matzen Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded annually to one male and one female soccer player from teams in the High School age divisions within the club. The scholarship will pay for the Kansas Rush Wichita player dues for the upcoming season for each scholarship recipient and it will not be awarded to the same players more than once. To be eligible for the current 2017-2018 soccer year, applicants must submit an essay before September 30th, 2017 to [email protected] The essay should include their personal history with the sport of soccer, what the sport means to them and their college intentions. The submitted essays will be reviewed by the Clayton Matzen Memorial Scholarship Committee and the winners announced no later than two weeks after the deadline. The female scholarship will be awarded retroactively for the Fall 2017 Season and the male scholarship will be awarded for the Spring 2018 Season. In the future, essays will be required to be submitted between July 1stand July 31 each year for the upcoming soccer year.
