College Scholarship Initiative
It is with great pride and excitement that we have started a new initiative for Kansas Rush Wichita. We have launched the Kansas Rush Wichita Coaching Staff – College Scholarship Initiative. The KRW coaching staff has taken the initiative to give back to our club, Kansas Rush Wichita, in the way of financial support through college scholarships. Coaches have been presented the opportunity to make a monthly donation to the college scholarship fund at KRW. The scholarship fund will be managed by the club until the announcement of the scholarship recipients sometime in February of each year.
The KRW coaching staff believes they have the opportunity to make a significant impact on a small portion of the club's membership. "We can play a part in helping kids pursue their dreams and ambitions of college soccer, while making it more of a financial reality. This initiative allows our coaching staff to be the epitome of the Rush Core Values and show our membership and community that we care about young people, not just as athletes but people with goals and ambitions outside of soccer. Many of our coaches played college soccer, but hold careers outside the game. We want to help our players down the paths they want to go," stated KRW Technical Director - Adam Hunter.
Applications for players who just completed their freshman season in the Fall of 2023 now open!
Online Application and Video Upload - DEADLINE is 5PM on FEB15, 2024
Applications and videos will be reviewed by the KRW scholarship selection committee
Award recipients will be announced at A Night with KRW on FEB 22, 2024
Steps to Apply:
1. Complete this online Google Application HERE
2. Create a self-interview video and share via Google Drive with [email protected]
-video must be shared by 5PM on February 15, 2024
-video will be the property of KRW and will be used for the club's marketing purposes
Video Requirements:
-video must express your passion for soccer and the role Kansas Rush Wichita has had
-video must be between 90-120 seconds and cover a number of the below topics
-INTRODUCTION:
-name, high school, position, where you are going to college
-COLLEGE:
-why did you choose the college that you are headed to
-HISTORY WITH RUSH:
-when did you start at the club and what brought you to the club
-what team(s) have you played on at the club
-what successes have you had at the club (personal and/or team success)
-who have been your coaches at the club
-recall an impressionable memory from your time at the club
-WHAT HAS RUSH MEANT TO YOU:
-cover areas in regards to your development, passion, social experience, etc.
-REACHING YOUR COLLEGE SOCCER GOALS:
-how has the club played a role in helping you reach your college soccer goals
-THANK YOU
-express your gratitude for the club
Application Requirements:
-Applicant must be a Class of 2023 high school graduate
-Applicant must have been a member of Kansas Rush Wichita for at least three years
-Applicant must be attending and playing college soccer in the Fall of 2023
-Applicant must meet deadline by 5PM on February 15, 2024
Lastly, we would like to encourage the membership and community to join our coaching staff in raising college scholarship dollars for graduating members. We would suggest a larger one-time donation prior to May of each year or a recurring donation throughout the entire year ending May 31. The coaching staff would be absolutely thrilled to know that their donations are being multiplied when they give back to the club's players.
